In our last post, we briefly discussed the meanings of the single-digit numbers. As you practice and explore numerology, you’ll also come across what we call master numbers, which hold special power and importance. Generally speaking, these numbers are not reduced to single-digit numbers. If they are reduced, it is indicated that the single digit number came from a master number using a slash, such as 11/2, or 22/4.

There is some disagreement as to whether or not the number 33 is a master number or not. There are enough people who use 33 as a master number for us to include it in this post. At Numerology Ace, we usually don’t include 33 among the master numbers, but that decision is left up to the individual numerologist. If you’ve thought about taking our certification course, you’ll be asked to complete a complete, in-depth reading using our reading framework. You are welcome to complete it either using or not using 33 as a master number.

Let’s take a look at the meanings of the master numbers:

Master Number 11: The Master Healer

The number 11 has twice the power of a 1, but is dominated by the sensitivity and intuition of the 2. Made up for the number 1 twice, the 11 is strong-willed, driven, overbearing, maybe even forceful. It is driven.

Now add the energy of the 2, which it would reduce to: sensitive, gentle, emotionally conscious. Although these numbers seem almost contradictory, it doesn’t have to be. The number 11 is confidently intuitive, and as such is sometimes called the master healer.

Master Number 22: The Master Builder

The number 22, being made of the number two twice, is the most sensitive and intuitive. It is conscious, yet is dominated by the energy of the pragmatic and grounded 4. Called the master builder, the number 22 is sensitive and determined, gentle and pragmatic.

Master Number 33: The Master Teacher

You’ll sometimes here the number 33 referred to as the master teacher. The combination of creative and free-spirited 3s, dominated by the loving, responsible and caring 6 – it’s the perfect match. This could be considered the most spiritually evolved of all the numbers.

The number 33 is the least likely to appear during a reading. It can only be found as the life path when there is at least one other master number present. The master teacher, number 33, possesses a high level of sincere devotion.

A Note on Power Numbers and Angel Numbers

Though they don’t contain the same power and potential as master numbers, some people have reached out to me an asked me to put a brief section in this post on Power Numbers and Angel Numbers – and so I will.

Power numbers are like master numbers, double-digit numbers that contain repeating figures. Obviously, these do not include 11, 22 and 33. Thus, the power numbers are 44, 55, 66, 77, 88 and 99. These contain a double dose of the energy represented by the single-digit number, as well as a controlling undertone by the reduced value. As such, 55 could be interpreted as a double dose of freedom and joy, with the undertone of leadership potential and determination.

Angel numbers, though a more recent idea, are three-digit repeating numbers, such as 333. These are interpreted similarly to master numbers and power numbers, considering the energetic qualities of the three 3s, as well as the sum of the number, 9. The angel numbers would include 111, 222, and so on, through 999.

Just like with the single-digit numbers, these master numbers, power numbers and angel numbers will mean different things in different situations and chart positions, and so the best way to become comfortable reading them is just that – to practice reading them. Imagine what it would mean to have an 11 in each and every chart position. How would the meaning of the 11 change?
