When you start identifying yourself as a numerologist, or as a numerology enthusiast, you’ll soon realize that everybody in the world wants you to read their numbers. And that’s a great thing, really! Think of all the people you could help!
Of course, it’s not practical or helpful to offer a full, in-depth reading for every person you see on the street, or every friend and family member. It’s certainly helpful to practice, but sometimes it just doesn’t make sense.
So what can you do quick? How do you read the numbers without tiring out the clock? In this post, we’re going to cover a quick and foolproof method of doing an on-the-spot numerology reading using only a person’s date of birth.
Why Birthdate Numbers?
Why use only birthdate numbers in quick reading? Well, there’s two reasons, really. First, our birthdate numbers reveal some of the most important and more fixed component of our personality. Of course, all of the numbers can influence and be influences, many of the numbers that come from our date of birth stay pretty steady.
Secondly, it’s quicker. It’s much easier to add and reduce birthdate numbers quickly than it is to evaluate names. While name numbers are a necessity for any larger-scope reading, they take bit more time to do. Sometimes, we’re looking for speed.
Life Path
Our life path shows the general direction of our life from the top. It represents who we are at our very core. It is the single most important feature of our numerology profile, and it’s your ultimate lucky number.
Calculating the Life Path Number
Calculating the life path number is simple. Simply reduce the three units of your birth date (month, day, and year), and then add them all together and reduce that number. Keep in mind that we do not reduce master numbers in the life path calculation.
So for instance, if my birthday was April 15th, 1993, I would have three units to add/reduce:
- April (the fourth month) = 4
- 15 (reduce, 1+5) = 6
- 1993 (reduce, 1+9+9+3) = 22
Now I add these three units together (4+6+22) = 32 (3+2) = 5.
This person’s life path number is 5, and they’re probably a fun-loving, adventurous person.
Birth Day Number
Next, we would look at the birth day number, which only needs to be reduced if necessary. There is no additional calculation. It’s just your birth day. The birth day number reveals a special talent or gift that you have.
In the example, the birth day number would simply be 6. If we wanted to note that the 6 was reduced from a 15, we could write it as 15/6. When we’re looking at birthday numbers (or any other single-digit numbers for that matter), it can be helpful to look at the digits that combined to create the number. In this instance, although the 6 represents the nurturing, caring individual, the 1 and the 5 that make it up, paint this nurturer as someone with strong leadership skills who also knows how to have fun. This homemaker isn’t a dictator, but a motivator. If the 6 was created by the 2 and 4, we might see that it was a bit more grounded, more down-to-earth, more sensitive and empathetic.
Challenges
The challenges are simply that: they’re situations and energies that seem to offer resistance to our intentions. We might perceive them as obstacles or obstructions, when really these very obstacles are the catalyst for our growth and forward momentum. There are four challenges in our life, three of which have specific time ranges, and a main (or life) challenge that we feel for our entire existence.
We calculate challenges by subtracting the various units of our birth date. When we subtract, we always subtract the smaller number from the larger number. We should never get a negative number.
Calculating the Challenges
We find our challenges in the following way:
- First Challenge (birth to roughly age 30-35): Difference between birth month and birth day.
- Second Challenge (35 to roughly 50-55): Difference between birth day and birth year.
- Third/Main/Life Challenge (entire life): Difference between first challenge and second challenge.
- Fourth Challenge (55-death): Difference between birth month and birth year.
When reading challenge numbers for people, we don’t do it to scare them. These are opportunities to grow, not cosmic punishments.
Pinnacle Cycles
Pinnacle cycles are the most important cycles in numerology. They’re similar, in a way to challenges. There’s four of them and they’re calculated from your birth date numbers. These cycles represent not a challenge that you’re facing, but instead something you’re constructively working on. You might be working on independence and leadership, or introspection and spirituality.
Calculating the Pinnacle Cycles
We calculate the pinnacle cycles almost exactly like the challenges. In this case, though, we use addition instead of subtraction, and we reduce where necessary. Numerologists disagree on whether or not to reduce master numbers in this calculation. I personally indicate both the master number and it’s single-digit reduction for clarity.
- The First Pinnacle (runs from birth until 36 minus your life path number): your birth month + birth day.
- The Second Pinnacle (nine years): your birth day + birth year
- Third Pinnacle (nine years): first pinnacle + second pinnacle.
- Fourth Pinnacle (end of third pinnacle to death): birth month + birth year.
Make note of when the pinnacles change, and what that change might feel like.
Summary
And that’s it! From just the date of birth, we can quickly calculate the life path, birth day number, challenges, and pinnacle cycles. This gives us a basic but solid understanding of some key energies that influence a person’s life. Yes, there are more calculations you could do based on the birth date (like the psychomatrix). Yes, you could move on to name numbers, and transits, and planes of expression, and other calculations. But if you need a quick, foolproof reading technique, this will work every time.
